Physical Therapy Programme


Physical Therapy Programme is the third pillar of Academy of Health Sciences. Furthermore, it is Ardennes forest of the academy. Hundreds of thousands of Syrian people were injured and thousands were disabled and there is an ethical responsibility for the academy regarding those people.  

Equality and Diversity concepts:

  • Relieve pain
  • Improve movement or ability for those who lost the ability to move during war.
  • Prevent or recover from a sports injury. (Nowadays this is not a prime factor)
  • Prevent disability or surgery. When it occurs, works for rehabilitation.
  • Rehab after a stroke, accident, injury, or surgery
  • Work on balance to prevent a slip or fall
  • Manage a chronic illness like diabetes, heart disease, or arthritis.
  • Learn to use assistive devices
  • Who to get and to use a splint or a brace
  • Advocate for the health and wellness of society through education, consultation, and community help.
  • Contribute to the scientific literature for clinical decision-making by making seminars about the importance of Physical Therapy in Syria and the importance of rehabilitation process.
  • Be reflective practitioners that demonstrate the ability to think critically, challenge assumptions, offer alternative solutions and assess outcomes. One mistake might cause the patient his ability to move.
  • Have a common and cohesive framework for efficient clinical decision-making that reflects best available evidence, a concern for patient-centered care.
  • Act in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner in patient/client interactions.
  • Function effectively in the multifaceted roles of a physical therapist including clinician, scholar, administrator, consultant, educator and advocate.
  • Respect and act with consideration for how differences, values, preferences, and expressed needs of a patient/client, family or group may influence or are influenced by the judgment, recommendations or decisions of the physical therapist.
  • Be able to apply principles of health, wellness and rehabilitation across the lifespan in a dynamic health care environment.

The program is certified by ACQUIN Accrediterungs-, Certifizierungs- und Qualitätssicherungs-Institut.

Structure of the Program:

Paramedics program is Short Cycle Higher Education programs and it is portrayed as this kind of degree that simulates the Level 5 courses in UK with  92 ECTs corresponding to International Standard Classification of Education, ISCED 2011.


Paramedics programme is taught at the campus of the method of Face to Face teaching. Theoretical and practical lectures are being taught. Students are to attend seminars, go to hospitals and have laboratory sessions. The programme was intended to be 4 years BA but due to the unstable circumstances in Syria, we were forced to reduce it to 2 years course. Anyway, whenever we guarantee that the Security situation is stable, we are going to adopt the 4 years plan.
